Bologna is the Italian capital of street art. Could Banksy’s works have traveled across the country without stopping in this beautiful city, offering the first major retrospective on the history of this artistic genre?

The spring season of 2023 promises excitement for visitors to Palazzo Pallavicini: from March 31 to January 28, 2024, the enchanting rooms of this historic venue at Via San Felice 24, just a short walk from the Two Towers and Piazza Maggiore, will host the new exhibition dedicated to Banksy.

“The World of Banksy” wants to preserve street art so that it can be studied and recognized for its significant historical role. It raises new questions that remain unanswered because the history of these movements is still not well understood.

“Girl with Balloon,” “Rat and Champagne,” “Christ with Shopping Bag,” “Queen’s Guard Pissing,” and “The Umbrella Girl” are just a few of the 90 works on display, created by street artists who have faithfully reproduced Banksy’s pieces and the environments in which they appeared.

This exhibition features over 30 life-size murals and “iBanksy,” a special video section tracing the history and social message of the Bristol street artist’s works on walls, streets, and bridges from various locations. The works directly address important and powerful themes that often leave viewers feeling powerless.

“The World of Banksy” is sparking important debates among both street art enthusiasts and those new to the field. As with all previous exhibitions dedicated to Banksy’s art, this one is not authorized by the artist.
